What is ancestral skincare?
Ancestral skincare is skincare made the way our great-grandmothers would remember: slow-infused whole botanicals, traditional cold-process soap, and time-tested ingredients like grass-fed and finished tallow from suet, honey, sea buckthorn, and frankincense and myrrh resin. Edenwild is a Wyoming-based ancestral skincare brand, and we build every product around one question: would we put this on our daughters' skin? That standard keeps our formulas simple enough for sensitive skin and gentle enough to stay in your routine for life. Ancestral skincare for you, your mother, and your littles.
What is slow-infused skincare?
Slow-infused means we steep whole botanicals, like calendula, chamomile, and marshmallow root, in jojoba oil and tallow over an extended period instead of building formulas around essential oil blends. It draws out a broad range of each plant's compounds at a gentle concentration, and it's the foundation of most Edenwild formulas.
Does Edenwild use essential oils or synthetic fragrance?
Every Edenwild product is free from synthetic fragrance, and most formulas are built on slow-infused whole botanicals instead of essential oils. Where we do use essential oils, we use them sparingly, and among them are three with long traditions in skincare: frankincense, traditionally prized for dry, mature-looking skin; helichrysum, traditionally used to comfort and soothe skin; and neroli, traditionally valued for softening and balancing skin. Some formulas, like Alpenglow Serum and Happy Baby Balm, are fully essential-oil-free. Every ingredient is listed on each product page.
Is Edenwild good for sensitive skin?
Yes. Every Edenwild formula has to pass one test: would we put this on our daughters' skin? If the answer isn't an immediate yes, we start over. That standard is why our ingredient lists are short, our formulas are free from synthetic fragrance, and our botanicals, like calendula, chamomile, and marshmallow root, are slow-infused into jojoba oil or tallow instead of built around essential oil blends. Our Never List shows what we leave out. As with any new product, patch test first.
What is tallow skincare?
Tallow skincare uses tallow, a traditional ingredient rendered from beef fat, to nourish skin the way our ancestors did. Edenwild uses grass-fed and finished tallow from suet, whose fatty acid profile is often described as similar to the lipids in human skin. It has been used in skincare across many cultures for generations.
